Bio [English | Dutch]
Marcellus Johnson is the alter-ego of Gertjan Jansen (1989). In october this year, the Amsterdam-based songwriter released his second EP.
With a refined guitar style, wavy synthesizers and layered vocals, Marcellus Johnson finds his way through the night, looking for the morning light. His songs are dreamy and personal, but still down to earth and narrative. He seems melancholic now and then, but he never does without losing hope.
His second EP A New Day continues where his first EP ended. The Future Confusion of the debut is replaced by Future Clouds. The love is over, a new day begins: “You’ve made new friends, and I found a new lover.” Lovesickness with a soft edge.
Marcellus Johnson played every instrument on the EP by himself, with exception of the drums (Jelle Huiberts). During live shows, he performs with full band on stage.
A New Day was released on october 14th, 2016 in Cinetol, Amsterdam.
Both EP's are avaible on iTunes, Spotify and SoundCloud.
